This is the story about Paulownia Natural Growers—a journey that began in 2005 with the planting of a single paulownia sapling in Valencia, Spain. Over the years, we’ve grown into a pioneering company. As a result, we now lead the way in sustainable forestry and eco-friendly wood products for water sports enthusiasts worldwide.
Timeline of Growth
- 2005: The first paulownia tree is planted as a test on our land in Valencia. This was the beginning of our journey into sustainable forestry.
- 2006-2008: Rapid expansion follows. By 2008, our forest had grown to over 5,000 trees, demonstrating the potential of paulownia cultivation.
- 2010: We harvest our first trees to produce timber. However, the standard market struggled to recognize the value of paulownia wood at the time.
- 2011: We connect with shapers and surfers. Consequently, this opens a world of possibilities for using paulownia in water sports.
- 2012: Paulownia Natural Growers is officially founded. Therefore, we become the first company in Spain to cultivate and supply paulownia wood for the surf industry.
- 2013: We begin producing wooden blanks and panels for surfboards and alaia boards. Furthermore, this marks a shift toward crafting eco-friendly products for enthusiasts.
- 2015: We supply pre-curved boards for tiki shaping. This milestone allows us to join the French kiteboarding community through partnerships with TIKI Mafia.
- 2022: Our product lines expand to include surfboards, kiteboards, bellyboards, foil boards, and blanks crafted from sustainably grown paulownia.

Meanwhile, since 2012, we’ve also guided new growers and associations. In particular, our workshops and expertise cover everything from cultivating paulownia to shaping high-performance boards.

A Family Legacy: From Roots to Boards
At Paulownia Natural Growers, our story is also a family story. Since the beginning, this journey has been shared with my son. He grew up surrounded by paulownia trees. Consequently, after more than 20 years of working with these remarkable trees, he now leads the shaping and finishing of kitesurf, foiling, and bellyboarding models. His deep understanding of the process—from tree to finished product—reflects the essence of who we are.
